How the Home Sleep Test Process Works

If you’re experiencing poor sleep or suspect you might have a sleep disorder, it’s important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Here’s how the process works.

Step 1

Not necessary for self-pay customers

You will consult with a physician who, if appropriate, will order a sleep test. If you don’t have a regular physician, Lakeland can connect you with one. This can also be done remotely, online to make things more convenient.

Step 2

Not necessary for self-pay customers

Your physician will send the sleep test order to Lakeland Home Sleep Tests. We’ll schedule your test.

Step 3

You’ll visit a Lakeland facility where we will brief you on how the test works, set you up with the test equipment and answer any questions.

Step 4

You’ll take the test that night at home and return the equipment to Lakeland the next day.

Step 5

Your test results will be interpreted by a board-certified sleep physician who will make a diagnosis. We highly recommend you have a post-study consult with a sleep study specialist (this can be done remotely if desired) to review results and issue a prescription if necessary. Here too, Lakeland can connect you with a qualified medical professional.

Step 6

If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, it’s likely you’ll be prescribed CPAP therapy. Lakeland can immediately set you up with CPAP equipment so you can start enjoying a restful night’s sleep.
